Bubba Starling 'hanging out' at Wyandotte game
After finishing with the 3-seed in their sub-state bracket, the Trailblazer basketball team was awarded one last game on its home court and it was clear that the Trailblazers took full advantage of the opportunity, beating the Bulldogs of Wyandotte 92-79.
After winning the opening tip, the Trailblazers got the crowd into it early with an alley-oop from Jaydan Juenemann to Bubba Starling to put Gardner-Edgerton ahead of Wyandotte 2-0.
The Trailblazers made it obvious from the beginning they were not going to allow Wyandotte anything easy inside. After being shut down on several attempts at a drive inside, the Bulldogs attempted to drive the baseline and also came up empty, they were forced to resort to outside shots.
Once settled, both teams were able to make shots. The game was high-powered offensively as four Trailblazers scored in double figures. Leading the way was Starling, who had 28-points, eight of which were scored on alley-oops. Just behind Starling was Conner Langrehr, who finished with 25 and made four three-point shots in the first half alone.
Next up for the Trailblazers will be Harmon. The game will be played at Bishop Miege High School at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 5th. The winner will be crowned sub-state champions and advance on to the state tournament in Topeka.
