Coleman Products officially opened their new Distribution Center in Gardner, Kansas earlier today. Coleman CEO and President, Sam Solomon told the assembled employees and guests, “I am happy to report we are doing well,” Solomon explained that Coleman is in Gardner “because we are a global company. When we manufactured primarily in Wichita, it made sense to ship from there.” Now that they manufacture around the globe, “Gardner is the place to be for the distribution of our products.” Mr. Solomon spoke of Coleman as a source of found memories for many people. He said, "No matter where I am, people want to share their stories of camping with Coleman equipment."

Paul Licausi, President of LS Commercial Real Estate spoke of the jobs created and financial impact upon the community. He stated, “The development of this project in Gardner provides a tax benefit to the School and City equivalent to the construction of 400 homes even with a tax abatement.” Tom Riederer, President of Southwest Johnson County EDC said of the project, “It is a good thing. We will see more and more of this type of facility with state of the art distribution systems here in Southwest Johnson County.”

Mayor of Gardner, Dave Drovetta, said, “This is a great day for our City. Although there was a ribbon cutting today, this facility has been in operation since November. The impact has already been tremendous. Not only has it added needed jobs, but Coleman donated tons of gifts to local children at Christmas. We are excited to have Coleman here and look forward to welcoming additional companies to Midwest Commerce Center.”
