Kent Glaser, who handles virtually every aspect of the Gardner Edgerton High School athletic programs, organizations and clubs, was recently named District III Athletic Director of the Year by the Kansas Interscholastic Athlete Administrator’s Association. Kent will be honored at the KIAAA annual conference on March 27, in Hutchison, Kan.

Currently in his sixth year at GEHS, Glaser oversees both athletics and activities which include 18 athletic programs, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Debate, Forensics, Scholars Bowl, and all of our clubs and organizations.

GEHS has 527 kids that are cleared to play athletics at GEHS. Throw in their activities and Glaser oversees well over 50 percent of the students at GEHS involved in extra-curricular or co-curricular activities.

“It is an honor to be recognized by your peers,” said Glaser. “Behind recognition is success and support. I am very thankful for the great students, coaches, and directors that we have here at GEHS. They all have had a hand in our success as a school.”

Due to Glaser’s leadership and foresight, GEHS is one of the top athletic programs in the State of Kansas. During his six years as athletic director, GEHS has expanded the opportunities for students to excel outside of the classroom. Multiple sports and teams have been added during his tenure along with the hiring of some of the top coaches and sponsors throughout the state.

“He continues to seek ways to enhance the athletic/activity program at GEHS,” said Tim Brady, GEHS principal. “Through his oversight and the continued support from our Board of Education, GEHS will remain one of the best athletic/activity programs in the metropolitan area.”

“I am very proud of our accomplishments to date and look forward to many more in the future,” said, Glaser. “It’s great to be a Blazer!”
