The February 8 Board of Education meeting was essentially a celebration of all that is good about the Gardner Edgerton School District. Talented students, supportive families, dedicated staff, and a wealth of opportunities to take advantage of all of these.
Shining Stars awards were presented to two USD 231 staff:
Bill Wealthall, band/orchestra instructor at Pioneer Ridge Middle School
Connie Epp, receptionist, District Office
The award presentation would have been a tough act to follow, but Principal Tim Brady gave a PowerPoint presentation on GEHS that was equally impressive.
Eight GEHS students made All-State Choir. Vocalists so honored are Ethan Platt, Seth Rector, Michael Fibelkorn, Andy Colbert, Isaak Anderson, Patrick Gillespie, Clayton Sheldon, and Lindsay Miller.
GEHS students Gabby Dellinger, Jordan Keehn, Brody Conway, Chad Prom and Christian Warner participated in a Model Bridge Building Contest sponsored by the Kansas Society of Professional Engineers.
GEHS recently hosted a Future Business Leaders of America Conference attended by nearly 200 students representing 8 schools. Senior Preston Pyle is currently vice president of FBLA District VI. The day consisted of seminars, presentations and competitions.
The first awards presented were to the eight spelling bee champions - one from each elementary and middle school:

So good to hear of the successes of the good people of Gardner who make the city what it is, "A Good Place to Live". And the children shall lead them.
